What are cosmetic injectables?

Dermal fillers are used in the form of an injectable and are commonly used to restore youthfulness, volume and to create a plumping effect using the most common ingredient, known as hyaluronic acid.

Facial injectables are muscle relaxants. They act on the junctions between the nerves and muscles, that would normally cause the muscle to contract.

There are both therapeutic and cosmetic indications for the use of facial injectables, such as Botulinum Neurotoxin type A and Dermal Fillers in dentistry.Botulinum toxin works by blocking the signal between the nerves and the muscle, so the muscle can’t cause wrinkles for a period of time.
The targeted muscles are prevented from contracting which help to improve wrinkles and fine lines, but it is also used for treatments including:
  • Teeth grinding
  • Facial pain
  • Chronic migraines and headaches
  • Hyperactive lip (correction of a gummy smile)
